Victim Pot Nr.19: Krawattenmuster – back to the roots

Back to the roots, wie entstehen die einfachsten Muster? Durch Wiederholung der einfachsten Formen, wie Punkt, Linie, Kreis und so weiter, abgeschmeckt mit einem Rhythmus, Proportionen, Dichte… Es muss nicht immer ausgeklügelt sein, es geht auch so, mit rudimentären Elementen gekritzelt. Oft als Krawattenmuster bezeichnet, sind diese einfachen kleinen Formen unscheinbar, versuchen sich nicht mit opulenten Ornamenten zu messen, bewohnen oft nicht nur Textilien aber auch Umschlaginnenseiten der Bücher oder Innenseiten der Kartonschachteln.


Eine Aufgabe „Kleine grüne Kreise jeweils mit einem grünen Punkt in der Mitte“ würde bei jedem von uns anders aussehen. Die Abstände wären anders, die Linienstärke der Muster, und wenn es einfach so unüberlegt passiert, ist es wie eine Handschrift, so und nicht anders.

Jemand hat die Kanne in diesem Design bei mir auf dem Regal gesehen und fragte, ob ich mich nicht beobachtet fühle. Haha! Die ewige Assoziation, die kommt, ob wir es wollen oder nicht! Also nein, ein Kreis mit einem Punkt in der Mitte muss nicht gleich ein Auge sein.

ENGLISH SUMMARY: Victim Pot 19: Tie patterns – back to the roots

Back to the roots, how are the simplest patterns created? By repeating the simplest forms, like a point, a line, a circle and so on, seasoned with a rhythm, proportions, density… It doesn’t always have to be ingenious, it can be done like this, scribbled with rudimentary elements. Often referred to as tie patterns, simple small forms are inconspicuous, do not try to compete with opulent ornaments, often inhabit not only textiles but also the inside of book covers or cardboard boxes.

A task “small green circles each with a green dot in the middle” would look different for each of us. The spacing would be different, the line width of the patterns, and yet when it just happens in a rash, it’s like handwriting, like this and no other way. Someone saw the teapot in this design on my shelf and asked me if I felt like I was being watched. Ha-ha! The eternal association that comes whether we like it or not! Well no, a circle with a point in the middle does not necessarily have to be an eye.
